Free to be Me

One of the things we love most about Web3 and NFTs is that it allows us to get involved in projects and online communities that match our interests.  You might say –“I was in online communities in Web2, what’s the difference?”

Of course, there are many Web2 online communities, Reddit and Twitter being among the best examples. Through these platforms you can follow any number of people and pages devoted to your interests.

Instagram and Facebook are much the same, allowing you to choose who you engage with online. How is Web3 any different?  This is a great question.

While Web2 offers social connections, Web3 gives you a connection between your digital assets, ie., NFTs, and all your social connections.

Put simply, social tokens grant access to a community, including social engagement, which could be providing valuable information on upcoming events, or future drops from a project or artist you’re interested in.

Web3 provides a much more dynamic, vibrant, and useful way of communication about your interests with like-minded people.  Your NFT could even provide access to a real-life event, like a concert or conference.

For example, awhile back Chris purchased a 33NFT Gold Pass, off-of Nifty Gateways. This is priced at $1,250 on the secondary market right now. It has an ultra-limited supply of only 477.

This pass includes a few benefits.

  1. Exclusive access to drops and drawings on Nifty Gateways
  2. Access to 33NFT discord
  3. White-list access to many highly sought-after mints
  4. Access to the occasional limited-edition merchandise
  5. AMAs with 33NFT, various artists, and project creators

Web3 is booming with these types of social tokens. Communities are forming all the time providing access for almost any interest you can possibly think of.

Our interests happen to be in art and the artists creating unique artworks, but you could dive down any number of rabbit holes.

Sports, music, video games, movies—Web3 provides a dynamic space to bring people from all over the world together in a way that verifies who a person is and what they’re all about.  In Web2 anyone can say they’re anything. Web3 provides a platform to back it up.
