Technical Difficulties, Please Stand By

We can only assume that by now, you too are deeply invested in the world of NFTs. No? We get it. One of the largest barriers to entry to the Web3 universe is the sheer amount of jargon, software, tech, potential scams, currency conversion, chat bots–the world of NFTs, as implicated by the name ‘Non-Fungible Token”, is by nature, difficult.

Don’t even get us started on minting one. It takes a high level of know-how to splash around in the NFT pool successfully, without constantly worrying you’re doing something wrong or risking sending your money to a Nigerian Prince.

Can we tell you about the time Chris accidentally did just that?  They caught him at the exact right moment. While waiting for an anticipated NFT drop, a pop-up window (disguised to look exactly like the NFT he was about to purchase) appeared with prompts.

He was in the middle of doing two things at once (always a bad idea) and ended up sending about two hundred dollars to a scammer.  Had he not been distracted in the moment he would have caught this, but honestly this was so well set up it, was almost seamless.  Someone with less experience would have never known the difference.

We’ve always found the most effective way of learning to be the hard way.  Once you’ve learned something the hard way, you don’t forget. But, that doesn’t mean you need to lose a bunch of money getting into the NFT game.  Here’s a few things you can do to get started that will add a level of comfort and security to the experience.

If you’re thinking about collecting your first NFT, we recommend starting on the website Nifty Gateway. It’s an amazing platform that hosts drops from leading artists in the digital art world. You can use a credit card or Ethereum to make your purchases. When you set up a Nifty account, you are essentially creating a wallet that is hosted by them and is very secure.

If you want to step out of easy mode into to more of a medium-level difficulty, download and install a MetaMask wallet from the app store. Want to make it really interesting? You could use your credit card or bank account to purchase a little Eth and make your first transaction.

Open Sea is the largest NFT platform in the world; currently hosting more than 1 million users. It is relatively easy to use once you have connected your MetaMask  wallet to confirm your identity.

Trust us, we understand. The first time is scary. You aren’t familiar with what you’re connecting to and may have fears of draining your wallet or losing all your NFTs. It pays to be cautious but, being overly so never got anyone anywhere either. The digital art world is booming right now. There’s never been a better time to jump in, splash around, and see what you like. Maybe you’ll even pick up a piece or two that speaks to your soul.

Still scared? You can always reach out to us, we’d be happy to walk you through it. You’ll find the NFT community to be one of the friendliest, most welcoming, and helpful groups of people in the world. Dive in.
